The manufacturing process
This is the classic process used by bungee cord manufacturers to manufacture a rope that is resistant and optimal for bungee jumping.
First Step: Extrude bungee cords
The natural rubber is prepared to be stretched on long and large tapes. These must have:
- A thickness of about 30 centimeters
- A width of 65 centimeters
- A 30-meter start
The extruder is based on a hot cylinder where the rubber is placed. Each end of the cylinder is moved by pressing to force an exit of the rubber from the opposite side. Once the bungee cords have cooled, just roll them up and send them to the bungee cord manufacturer.
Preparation of bungee cords
According to the number of strips we use, we will calculate the diameter and resistance of the cord in question. In this part of the process it is important to coat the individual threads with talc and soapstone.
For braiding we need to join the free ends of the rubber threads as they are fed through the braiding machine. These ends pass through a roller that packs them. While in the opposite end the thread is picked up by a roller of high pressures and speeds. These threads are placed and under pressure and stretched.
This braid weaves the yarn in a defined, tight pattern so that no dirt enters the cord spaces. It is covered with as many layers as necessary to be able to apply the outer covering thread. This is usually decorated and painted by bungee cord manufacturers.
